What is affiliate marketing
Before we proceed with Affiliate marketing tutorial for beginners, it is important to know what affiliate marketing is.
Affiliate marketing is when you sell other people’s products without touching or running Logistics or anything on that product.
To put it articulately, It is a model of advertising in which a firm rewards third-party publications for driving traffic or prospects to its products or services.
This is accomplished through a procedure in which publishers receive a commission for promoting a product or service created by another store or advertiser via an affiliate link.
Affiliate links are used to monitor sales from one website to another. These commissions are often a set sum or a percentage of the sale price.
So you see, if you are not ready to work or if you are not ready to sell, then affiliate marketing is not for you.
Affiliate marketing is easy, but the main problem is getting people to buy from you.
Let’s go through the seven steps in Affiliate marketing individually, and I’ll show you how to implement each.
7 Steps in Affiliate Marketing
As a beginner starting out in affiliate marketing, you can follow seven main steps, which is the recipe for success.
1. Getting affiliate partners
The first assignment to get started is to get your affiliate Partners.
Where do you get these affiliate Partners? These individuals or companies will allow you to sell their services or products.
There are two ways you can get this.
First are the companies that roll out affiliate programs by themselves, and second are marketplaces that bring multiple companies together so you can access their platform.
The first one, all you have to do is go to Google
Google.com
Next, type the industry of whatever you want to do.
For example, if I am going into fashion, I just put fashion affiliate programs
And then I click on search, and then you’ll see all of the different affiliate programs that Google will pull out for you.
Fourteen fashion affiliate programs, you can click on any of them
, and you see them, and you see the companies on there, and as I click on this, you can see all of the companies that run their affiliate.
But as I told you, you can also do this with a Marketplace.
Remember, affiliate marketplaces are platforms that gather a lot of companies together and run their affiliate programs on their behalf and take commissions off marketers’ sales as well.
This is a memorandum signed between companies and the platform owners.
What are the examples of these affiliate marketplaces? I will show you now
But some are openable to Africans and Nigerians. Some will not allow you if you live in Africa but are accessible in Europe, the USA and Canada.
For example, one of the biggest is clickbank.com
clickbank.com will not allow you in Africa or Nigeria, mainly only marketers from Europe, USA and Canada, etc.
Another affiliate marketplace is digitstore24.com
This platform will also not allow you in Nigeria and Africa, but it will in Europe, the USA and Canada etc.
But the ones that will allow you in Africa and Nigeria plus worldwide are the ones I will list next.
We have up to five, so you can jump on this even from Africa.

You see, all of these affiliate marketing platforms will allow you to sell for them.
That’s the first thing you have to do as a beginner starting.
2. How to pick a good product as a beginner doing affiliate marketing
The next thing to do is to get your product. You have to figure out what product you will be selling on these marketplaces.
Let me tell you five ways you can determine the products you will sell as a beginner going into affiliate marketing.
A. The first one is for you to follow your passion
If you have an interest in football, or you have an interest in boxing, or you have an interest in golf, whatever your interest is, you can choose your niche.
B. You can also follow the money
Whenever you know that if you sell this particular product, there is a lot of money to be made, you can follow that and choose the niche.
C. You can also follow competition competition
This is in the form of people that are doing it that you see are successful. You can repeat what they have done, and you as well can gain success.
You see, the last two on this list are my favorite
D. You can follow what we call the low hanging fruits low hanging fruits
These are low keywords that can drive traffic back to you.
If you have a case of a monkey and then you see there are low hanging fruits (Keywords) about monkeys, then you can look for a company that sells Foods and Wares of monkeys.
Because there are low competition keywords in that particular need with that particular industry, you can jump on that, which will form your niche.
E. You can go where nobody is going at all
There are some industries that nobody is talking about at all.
You can go for those, which will make you a lot of money because you will be the one that will be there.
So many of these strategies you can use to choose your niche as an affiliate now.
Before I finish this tutorial, I’ll tell you my top five affiliate marketing niches with more money.
But let’s move to step number three
3. Gather your audience
You Have to gather an audience before you can be successful as an affiliate, and to do this is not an easy task, I must say.
But I will tell you 4 ways you can gather an audience for your affiliate links and make a lot of sales on your product.
Now some of these are free some of these are paid.
I’ll tell you what it is. I’ll tell you the disadvantage and advantages of each one.
Let’s get things started.
A. Youtube
YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world, where people look for things and get answers to their questions.
But how does this become what can benefit you with sales as an affiliate marketer?
Let me give you an example
If you are looking for “how to sharpen your Cutlass.”
I can tell you if I have an affiliate for cutlasses or cutlass sharpeners, I will sell.
This works because if I put that information on YouTube and prefer an answer to the question, I will get many people to know how to sharpen their cutlasses.
The question now is, when will you make money on YouTube?
It’s immediate. But how?
Let me explain.
From the first day you post the video tutorial, you get free traffic from YouTube that will give you affiliate sales by referring people watching the video to the affiliate link that you will leave in the video’s description.

B. Using Ads
My point number two of how you can get an audience by using ad advertisement.
If you want to use an ad to gain traffic, you have to pay money to companies that offer such services.
Whatever ads you have an interest in, you have to make payment for them.
The results, I must say, are not a bulletproof guarantee for success because sometimes you run ads, and the ads do badly.
You cannot determine how good or bad an ad campaign will perform, but it can be tried and doable.

Let’s move to the next point in how to gather an audience.
C. Starting a podcast
My number three is starting a podcast.
What is podcast broadcasting?
This is when you run a radio station-like program from your home sent out over the internet.
In other words, With a podcast hosting service, digital audio material is sent via the web as podcasts.
Also, you can do video podcasts, and platforms like YouTube allow you to add video podcasts from your channel.
I’m sure you’ve heard about platforms like Spotify that allow people to put up their audio for free, and people can listen for hours.
Spotify is a podcast platform.
Starting a podcast is free if you already have the equipment for your recording.
Podcasting is a good venture that can drive traffic to your affiliate.
Now to my most preferred way of getting eyes to your affiliate links.
D. Blogging
Blogging is the best form to make money as an affiliate.
That is so important because blogs will Rank, and you can make money over and over, even for years after you have produced your articles.
But as I said, to get this started, you need to buy a domain name and host it.
So you need to spend money to start, and that’s all the startup.
After this, you will also have to write articles for your blog and rank your articles so that more people can see your links.
When Google ranks your article’s top 3 in each keyword, it will bring in more readers, which means more eyes to your affiliate links.
If you’ve written an article and nobody’s seen it, even if you have your affiliate links, nobody will buy, and you have to learn how to rank your articles.

The next step I want to show you is one of the major steps in affiliate marketing which is building your email sequence
4. Building an email list,
let me tell you something even if you can score a client, you still need to resell to them to maximize profit making.
When a client becomes a returning client, and you can sell more things to them, you hit the jackpot.
The only method to accomplish this is when you go via the email marketing route.
Three sequences are in these!
You have to be able to use what is called the lead magnet to capture these customers and intended customers.
For example, if I want to sell a canva login, I can make a video tutorial about how to use canva and then give that out for free.
Everybody that wants to learn how to use canva will come and take that canva tutorial for free.
But you will make it in a way the only way to get the tutorial is via email.
So they email me, and I will send the tutorial to them.
This process is called the lead magnet.
Now see how this is a genius way of marketing.
If anyone had collected my video tutorial and I had their email, how easy would it be for me to Market my canva affiliate to them? VERY EASY
Also, my emails to them will have a high open rate and purchase rate because, from my canva tutorial video, they had learned that there would be places where they need the canva pro login.
And that is exactly what my affiliate link will be selling in the series of emails that I will shoot to them.
You might be thinking!! Is it as easy as that? YES, it’s easy.
But sometimes, you have to give them a backup email sequence which is the number two
5. Email Sequence/Automation
Some people will not buy from you just because you emailed them.
You may need to push them back to back up to four or five emails before they decide to buy.
So that’s the number two, which is the sequence.
The ability to send these emails to them repeatedly, and I can guarantee to you from there, they will buy.

6. Getting an Affiliate Link

For example, if you register impact.com
I can click on sign in, and then it signs me in
To get my link, I have to go to individual products, so here I can click on Brands and click on my Brands
Then you can see each of my brands has its link
For example Upwork
I can click on Create a link just like that
Then I click on it, and you can see I’ve copied it.
It’s now this link that I will sell, and don’t forget I already told you about how to get the audience.
The link is what you sell on your blog or your YouTube channel, using Facebook ads, etc.
Now, why sell? There’s a little problem
You need what is called a sales copy
7. Affiliate Sales copy
A sales copy is a copywritten word that will make people click on your emails or even the landing page so they can buy from you.
You need to learn this!
